Love the food here! You can cook or have the food served to you cooked. I used to come with my extended family, and they have smaller private rooms in the back. The prices are a bit high but still comparable to SF prices for KBBQ.
I love the kalbi/galbi here, pork belly, and I just recently tried the oxtail (I think they call it clay pot or hot pot). There's also an oxtail soup, but I liked the non soupy oxtail more. Kind of like stew but definitely Korean because it's on the sweeter side.
It's been a long time since I dined here so I won't comment on the service. But when I've gotten takeout twice recently, the people who helped me while paying were friendly and quick to help.
Parking can be tough around here, so plan accordingly.

Can't ask anymore on food. Price is a little expense for just a pot of beef but taste is good. Other appetizers are good. Service is good. Love to come back.

This place is very good, everything I ordered was so delicious. Every time I visit San Francisco I stop by to have lunch.

We went here 30 minutes before closing which is a blasphemy on its' own and we didn't have hope on getting a table but they seated us anyhow. The staff were super nice and provided us steamed eggs on the house and it took us maybe 10 minutes after ordering to get all the food we ordered. The banchan was top tier and they served ones that I haven't seen in other places before. It felt very homey and welcoming and we definitely recommned coming back here!!

Great spot to satisfy cravings for Korean food! If you order two or more meats, you have the option to grill it yourself or have the kitchen cook it. We asked the kitchen to cook it, and the meat came out on a hot plate! The meats were well marinated and tender - my favorite was the galbi!
I loved all the different banchan they gave (you can ask for refills if you run out!), yummy steamed egg, and sweet rice drink at the end! Service was great and I would definitely come back!

So yummy !! Hit the spot. Came on a Saturday at around 8, and still had to wait over half an hour but def worth it !! The staff was so amazing and helpful and working so hard.
Got the bulgogi and bibimbap

The best Korean BBQ in San Francisco...for over 30 years...can't get enough! I love this place!

Food is solid! We love the braised short ribs and enjoy all the bon chon that comes with our orders. It is getting pretty pricey though. Feeling the pinch, so will call this place a splurge.

Best Korean place I've been in the Bay Area. I'm always on the lookout for good homie Korean places after leaving LA, and I'm glad to have found one that hits the spot.
The banchan we were served are abundant in varieties and all delicious. The steamed egg is also something I've been craving but is a rare find in the bay. After dinner we were also offered sweet rice water. These were all for free!
We order 2 soups that were both amazing:
- Soft tofu soup with seafood: I'd have ~3 pieces of seafoods every spoonful, all meat no shells! The soup was very flavorful with seafood taste.
- Ox tail soup: the soup was not salted, and I loved that. It's just pure bone soup with some glass noodles. A side dish of salt was available to dip meat in. The clear ox tail soup compliments the flavor of soft tofu soup very well.
The restaurant also offers BBQ and there is an option to specify if BBQ table is required at sign-in. There are also big tables for 6-8 people so big groups can be seated too, family friendly.
The servers are very busy so it's important to observe how diners around ask for help and their etiquette. We learned popping teapot lid open signals for more tea.

I was really excited about coming to Han Il Kwan because my Korean friend has told me that it's the best Korean restaurant in SF (especially after I repeatedly complained that there is no good Korean food in SF).
We came here on a weekday for dinner and there was barely a wait. We waited around 10 mins to get seated at a bbq table. It started clearing out around 7pm, so you'd have a pretty good chance of getting seated right away if you come around that time (if you're okay with a short dining time).
Pretty standard menu for a Korean restaurant. They have both bbq tables and normal tables. Sizable portions for the bbq orders. We ordered bulgogi and chicken and cooked the bbq ourselves - the chicken was surprisingly good but the bulgogi was a little bland and I think we overcooked it. We also got a spicy tofu soup for free and it was delicious.
Alcoholic beverages are expensive here - they charge $16 for a bottle soju, which is ridiculous. Other than that, food is great and I'd totally come back (but probably not if the wait is more than 30 mins).
In terms of service, there isn't much service to speak of (especially because they were wrapping up for the day). We had to get up and walk to the register to ask for water. But I don't think that's out of the ordinary for a Korean/kbbq restaurant.
